eVolution provides dedicated, professionally qualified Novell CNA and CNE certified engineers to plan, design, install, configure, optimise and deploy your Netware servers successfully into your organisation's computing environment. Whether upgrading to a newer Novell supported version of Netware or a new installation of Netware 5.0 or 6.0, eVolution can provide the technical expertise required. In the near future, Novell Netware 6.5 will also be available.
The first stage in the installation process involves the determination of both hardware, software and services required for your Netware Server. This planning stage, ensures that the necessary ethernet network infrastructure [hubs, switches, routers, gateways and access devices] are in place to support the installation of the server and client access to server resources. It will also identify the protocols to be installed, the network addressing and naming conventions to be used, the optional server products and services to be installed, the applications to be hosted and the Netware Server's co-existence within the existing computing environment. The physical server, whether existing or new, can then be build according to specifications, including any pre-determined fault-tolerant features, such as hardware RAID, dual-homed, dual-powered, UPS, Clustered, NAS, SAN, etc.
Prior to the installation of the network operating system, the precise role of the Netware Server needs to be clearly defined and how the server integrates into the existing computing environment. The installation of Novell network operating software onto the Netware Server will depend upon whether the server is new, being upgraded from a previous version or being migrated. Following the installation of the base operating system, decisions on additional products and services will be required. This may include the use of NSS [Netware Storage Services] on Netware Volumes or SMS [Storage Management Services], the installation of TCP/IP, IPX or IP Compatibility Mode, the installation of DHCP, DNS, Web Services or FTP.
As an integral part of the installation process, the Netware Server will be incorporated into either an existing NDS/eDirectory tree or a new tree. Consequently, it is essential that the NDS structure is pre-designed and all associated containers and objects clearly defined. Following NDS/eDirectory design and implementation, it will be necessary to implement policies for partitioning, replication and time synchronisation. Finally, client access to Netware services will be implemented along with either NDPS [Novell Distributed Printing Services] or queue-based printing facilities and where the Netware Server will be utilised as an application server, rather than a file and print server, ZenWorks would be utilised to automatically deploy corporate applications directly to client desktops. eVolution network engineers would perform the initial installation of your Netware Server into a laboratory environment for testing, configuration and tuning, prior to the release into your production environment. Optionally, on-site or remote maintenance and performance monitoring of your installation would be available.
